India has been steadily going forward, with its athlete’s cruising the country to proud achievements. And to honor these athletes, Asian Sportswriters Union (AIPS Asia), designed ‘Awards for Asia’ ceremony, in Malaysia. The event allocated two big guns of Asia in the sporting field, India’s MC Mary Kom and South Korea’s Son Heung-Min.
MC Mary Kom, a mother of three children and a warrior of the ring by profession, has mapped out her career so profusely, which eventually gave India numerous medals, including 6 World Championship titles reserved to her name. On the other hand, Son Heung-Min, South Korean football sensation, the most expensive Asian player in history and the top Asian goal scorer in Premier League history playing for Tottenham Hotspur. Both of the players in their respective fields have achieved so much, and has been opted by AIPS Asia, under the Best Asian Female and Male Athletes category.
Qatar men’s football team and the Japan women’s football team, were among the best Asian teams selected by the Award organization. AIPS is an organization, inaugurated in the year 1978, comprising of Asian sportswriters. In the 22nd AIPS Asia meet, it had its first award ceremony this year, honouring the sports personalities who have advanced in their individual games. The Chief Minister of Selangor, YAB Tuan Haji Amirudin Shari, distributed the awards among the winners, and notable sports journalist Subodh Malla Barua received the award on behalf of Mary Kom. Representatives across 30 countries of the world took part in the prestigious event.
