Australian pacer Dirk Nannes expects to shine in IPL

Twenty20 pace bowler Dirk Nannes would like to give his best shot at the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) so that he could be bought for more money by one of the franchises of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which is the richest league in the world right now. BBL is being adorned by other celebrity players like Oz spin wizard Shane Warne and West Indian hurricane Chris Gayle. The Australian says that IPL is his lifeline in order to stay in fray so that he could pep up his career. The 36-year-old freelancer is upbeat about the sixth IPL season for which the auctions will begin from February 3.

Dirk Nannes came to the limelight when he was purchased by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for IPL few years back. However, he was sidelined due to injuries and was eventually replaced by Gayle as a ‘replacement player’. The kind of sensation that Gayle has revived the entire IPL with many other players following him suit by aping his ruthless hitting. Unarguably, the West Indian hitter is the best Twenty20 player in the world ever since his exploits were brought to the fore by the IPL. Nannes would like to concentrate upon his career only now so that he could take care of his family needs, which is in England.

Sydney Thunder is the BBL franchise that Nannes represents, which is captained is Gayle himself that crashed out of the league without a single win to its credit. Brad Haddin had a brief spat with Gayle over the social media that his performance was not worth his pay. Gayle took up to social networking site Twitter reacting that it is better Haddin concentrated upon his batting more than his pay packet. It would be interesting to watch how the things will move one when the Jamaican stalwart returns to Australia for the ODI series for which Haddin is expected to be member of playing Australian XI.

As far as Nannes performance is considered, he is at the peak of his form by scalping 11 wickets in eight matches with a superb economy of just 6.5 runs. The talented Australian was released by RCB only last month because of the contract that came to an end. By participating freshly in the auctions again later this month, Nannes would be relying upon his luck to get selected for a franchise for the best price offered. Pune and Mumbai are already contemplating his teammate and Test skipper Michael Clarke.

Performing well in the BBL was high on his agenda as he wanted to make it a point to the IPL franchises that he is a highly dependable bowler. Meanwhile, it was initially Bollywood director and choreographer Prabhu Deva who was expected to be the face of IPL 6. However, he has now been replaced by another choreographer Farah Khan. Amidst all these lively incidents, players like Dirk Nannes would like to give it all their best in order to pocket a maximum. As the IPL schedule is just a few months away, the concentration levels are already soaring up.
