Barcelona and Real Madrid taste defeat

Barcelona were handed their first defeat of the tour when they went up against Roma on Tuesday. They started the game well, creating an array of chances in the opening minutes. One such chance fell for Rafinha, who did very well to put it past the Roma goalkeeper six minutes into the game. Roma came right back with an equaliser from El Shaarawy in the closing minutes of the first half.

Barcelona struck again, early in the second half. An unmarked Malcom tapped the ball in to give them the lead. Things did not end well for them though as they ended up conceding 3 goals in 8 minutes, the last of which came from the spot. However, the Barcelona manager, Valverde, does not seem bothered by this. He was rather happy with the way his team made up of non-starters, newcomers and B-team players performed against a strong Roma side.

Real Madrid on the other hand weren’t so lucky either as they went down to Manchester United in their preseason starter. United took the lead in the 18th minute as Alexis Sanchez converted from a low cross put in by Darmian. They doubled their lead nine minutes later when Ander Herrera netted United’s second. Real Madrid created a lot of chances and finally pulled one back as Benzema scored in the added time of the first half. The second half however did not see any goals as the club from Manchester had the last laugh.

In a different game, Tottenham defeated AC Milan in a low scoring match. Georges-KévinN'Koudou scored the only goal of the game.
