Buenos Aires rivals River Plate and Boca Juniors’ clash ended in a draw in the first leg of the Copa Libertadores final at La Bombonera stadium. The tie was postponed due to heavy rain on Saturday.
Ramon Abila scored a goal to open the goal register. However, it was equalized by Lucas Pratto. Again, Dario Benedetto scored for Boca but Carlos Izquierdoz put an own goal to the utter dismay of the Boca Juniors’ fans. The River side came back from behind on two occasions.
The second leg is scheduled on 24th November at River’s Monumental Stadium. This was a historical moment as the two sides, famed for its rivalry, met in the final for the first time in the 58-year history of Copa Libertados.
