In La Liga, Barcelona continued their positive run of form, winning their opening match 3-0. Messi scored twice in a game that the Catalans dominated throughout. The Argentine ace could have easily scored four, but was denied by the woodwork, twice. Coutinho scored the other goal, cutting in from the left and curling it in beautifully with his right. Their eternal rivals, Real Madrid, also began their campaign on a high, defeating Getafe in their opening game, 2-0. DaniCarvajal put them in front early in the game, before Gareth Bale made it 2-0.
Ronaldo started off his campaign in Italy with a win, though he personally had very little to take away from the game. He didn’t just fail to score in the game, but also failed to create much of an impact. Juventus won the match 3-2 against Chievo.
In England, Arsenal are being, well, Arsenal, after suffering their second consecutive loss in their Premier League campaign. This time, they went down to an impressive Chelsea side, 3-2. Manchester City on the other hand, have taken the pole position in the league standings on goal difference, winning 6-1 against Huddersfield.
