The letter from AIGF mentions Virat Kohli`s role in making cricket a much-loved sport in India and ..” it is befitting that his efforts in enhancing India`s statue and image in the global sporting arena are adequately restored by bestowing the honor of Bharat Ratna”…the letter added. The letter also stated, “Honoring Kohli with India`s highest civilian award will mean awarding talent, merit and hard work.”
Kohli has been the key player who has redefined cricket in India with his exemplary performance scoring more than 16000 runs and 62 centuries. Till now only Sachin Tendulkar has been conferred with Bharat Ratna in the field of sports. There are possibilities that the next person from sports will the get the prestigious award.
