With Japan leading Group H with 4 points, and Poland out of the World Cup, only time will tell whether the team can score and stay on top. Japan’s draw with Senegal and win over Colombia, has led the team to a strong position. But there is a chance of Senegal and Colombia too to reach the Round of 16.
It’s the third time that Japan is looking forward to qualifying to the knockout rounds. Poland’s hopes ended as they were defeated by Colombia, making Robert Lewandowski exit the tournament without scoring a goal. A draw against Poland will guarantee the Samurai Blue’s qualification from the group stage. “Four points from two games is a decent result, but we haven’t achieved anything yet,” said Captain Makoto Hasebe. “When we step out on to that pitch, we have to think solely about winning. You won’t get the result when you hope that a draw will be enough.”
