Cricket is a game, which majority of people follow, sometimes even worship, but the holy ground of Cricket is still not an unbiased one. Like the entire world, Cricket is also trapped in the loop of gender biases, where the women’s game never gets the due credit for their efforts. From opportunities, to sponsor, even the audience, everyone had their part to downplay the game when women took the ground. But this never stopped the women, as they kept fighting the odds to earn their credit from the world.
Cricket first appeared in Commonwealth Games (CWG) in 1998, with the men’s as usual, being the ‘center of attention’, as South Africa came at top; but that was also the last time, Cricket as a game ever been part of CWG. Now, after 24 years, Commonwealth Games Association voted to welcome back Cricket, to make another appearance, however with Women’s Cricket stepping up for the showdown.
