The defending champions West Indies managed to defy the odds last time around in the World T20 and this time they start as one of the favourites to win the title.
A lot will depend on Chris Gayle, known for his big hits, if the Caribbeans have to retain their title in Bangladesh.
"It would be nice if history could repeat itself but it's going to be tough as the other teams are playing good cricket at this point in time, and they are actually in good form as well," Gayle said.
"It is going to be good to get (out of the first round), that's always important. We'll target that first and then look forward to the semis and hopefully the final."
On the other hand West Indies, haven’t really continued the momentum winning only five of their 10 international T20s. Windies are grouped with Australia, India and Pakistan.
He was also looking to build some momentum during the T20 series against England. "We haven't been doing well in the shorter format recently. We lost a lot of games but hopefully we can build some momentum and we can be dangerous at the T20 World Cup if we get some momentum."
They can be a potent force on flat subcontinent wickets, with most of the West Indians having the experience of playing in the IPL. The WI batsmen in particular have been one of the most sought after players and will be a major threat for other teams in small Bangladesh grounds.
