The attacking left hand batsman, record breaking wicket-keeper and the former captain of Australia was born on this day. By now you must have guessed who we are talking about.
Yes, we are talking about one of the greatest keeper-batsman in the world, Adam Craig Gilchrist. Nicknamed as Gilly or Churchy, his strike rate is among the highest in the history of both ODI and Test Cricket. His century against England at Perth in December 2006 is the fourth-fastest century in Test Cricket format. Not only that, he was the first player to hit 100 sixes in Test cricket. His achievements as a batsman are immense, unique and it is impossible to mention all of it.
Apart from being one of the best batsmen, he is one of the most successful wicket keepers as well. He held the record for most dismissals by a wicket-keeper in ODI (One Day International).
It was heartbreaking for all his fans and the whole cricket world when he took retirement from International cricket in March 2008 and from domestic tournaments as well in 2013.
Team Googly Mania wishes world’s one of the greatest cricketer Adam Gilchrist a very Happy Birthday.
