The Indian U-16 team wrapped up their WAFF U-16 Championship campaign with a resounding 3-0 win over Yemen. Having beaten the AFC U-16 champions, Iraq, 1-0 in the game before, the Indian team came into the match high on confidence.
Right from the start, the Blues dominated the game while Yemen sat back looking to exploit chances on the break. They even managed to threaten the opposition quite a few times before conceding in the 38th minute from a corner. Harpreet Singh's header gave India the lead in the later stages of the first half of play. Two quick goals in the second half from the Indian team all but sealed the game. Ridge Demello scored the first of the two goals while the Indian skipper Rohit Danu scored the last one with a beautiful right-footed curler.
The future looks really bright for the Blue Cubs as they have put up one of their best performances lately. They have played four matches in this competition, winning on three different occasions. They managed to win against Jordan, Yemen, and Iraq, going down 2-1 against Japan.
