India lost the 2nd Test in Lord’s in rather humiliating manner, giving England a 2-0 lead over them in the Test series. Captain Virat and coach Ravi Shastri have already come under fire. The Board of Control for Cricket in India are not happy with their team’s performance and will ask quite a few questions if the team returns having conceded the Test series, again. Well, India’s chances are looking rather bleak, as they are already trailing 2-0 in difficult English conditions.
Just to make things worse, we are yet to receive an update on captain Kohli’s injury as he has been a big doubt for the 3rd Test in Trent Bridge. Virat suffered back spasms during the 2nd test in Lord’s and is currently recovering from it. Team India is still hopeful of having their captain on the field on Saturday.
India’s batting has been their biggest problem during the on-going England tour and we won’t be surprised if we see quite a few changes in the starting eleven. One such change which most of us are expecting is the introduction of Rishabh Pant. The youngster is expected to make his debut in the 3rd Test in place of a misfiring Dinesh Karthik.
All things considered, India really need to turn their campaign around if they want to come back home with some sort of positive result from their current tour of England.
