On 14th May Tuesday, ICC Development Panel of Umpires appointed 2 more female umpires in ICC Panel of Match Referee. First woman umpire to be appointed in ICC Development Panel of Umpires was Kathy Cross in 2014, who retired last year. Earlier this month Claire Polosak became one of 8 members to umpire in international women’s as well as men’s matches, she is the first woman to stand in a men’s ODI. Eloise Sheridan from Australia and GS Lakshmi from India were the two women umpires appointed by ICC panel on Tuesday, while Lakhsmi became the first ever woman to Umpire in a Men’s ODI matches in India. The former Indian cricketer after retiring as a player for women’s team, became a match referee in domestic women’s cricket in 2008-09, and later has been a referee in the 3 Women’s ODI matches and 3 women’s T20 International matches. On the other hand, Eloise Sheridan, has been kept reserve for 2 matches in the Men’s Big Bash League 2018-19 and has reportedly umpired for Women’s Big Bash League the same year in 4 matches, and was the first women in Australia to umpire a men’s first grade Premier Cricket final. Out of the 8 members of ICC Panel of Match Referee, others women are Lauren Agenbag, Kim Cotton, Shivani Mishra, Sue Redfern, Mary Waldron and Jacqueline Williams.
