Reportedly, India's evergreen tennis star Leander Paes is scheduled to appear with a new partner when he plays the Thailand Open men's doubles on Wednesday. Actually, the 40-year-old has partnered with Daniele Bracciali of Italy, who was his 95th partner in a career span of 23 years.
According to reports, Paes and Bracciali, who is a 35-year-old with a career high record ATP ranking of 49 accomplished 7 years ago, is supposed to be among the apex teams in the Bangkok event. Recently, Paes had partnered Czech player Radek Stepanek to win the US Open.
On one side, Stepanek has opted to take time off following the US Open as well as Davis Cup matches, while Paes is eager to continue with a new partner. Amazingly, Paes' former teammate Mahesh Bhupathi has a long list of partners too. In fact, Robert Lindstedt is Bhupathi's newest and 72nd men's doubles partner.
Remarkably, in the mixed doubles event, Bhupathi is placed ahead of Paes by 26-22. Overall, Bhupathi has won 8 mixed doubles Grand Slams with 7 different partners while Paes has 6 mixed doubles crown with 3 different ladies, which includes the legendary Martina Navratilova.
