In an attempt to be fully fit prior to the start of the World Cup campaign for Germany, Manuel Neuer stepped up preparations for the World Cup as he participated for 30 minutes as his team played against an under 20 Germany team. Neuer has not been able to feature in any competitive game since fracturing his left foot in September! The lack of game time for Neuer is a concern for many going into this World Cup.
Neuer will make his much-anticipated return in a friendly match against Austria. Germany will take on Mexico to start their World Cup campaign on 17th June.
Germany have other goalkeeping options in Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, Kevin Trapp and Bernd Leno in case there is doubt over Neuer’s fitness.
