Juventus took on the Major League Soccer (MLS) All Stars team in a friendly match in Atlanta. The Italian side is on their preseason tour of the US while the MLS teams are still playing, as their league is far from over. The All Stars team boasted the likes of Carlos Vela and Bradley Wright-Phillips. Juventus on the other hand, have left most of their starters and first team players back home for training and recovery before the start of the domestic season. The match was being played in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, a state-of-the-art facility, home to the Atlanta United FC (MLS) and the Atlanta Falcons (NFL).
Juventus went ahead in the 21st minute. Andrea Favilli scored what can almost be called a free header. The lead did not last long however, as the MLS All Stars came back into the game five minutes later. WojciechSzczesny did well to save the initial shot but took a little too long to recover. The All Stars capitalised on this, scoring a goal from a wild scramble. Martinez did well to head it in, on the far post.
The match finished with both teams level on 1-1. Surprisingly though, the MLS All Stars side sort of dominated the game, leading pretty much in every segment, from shots on target to possession to corners. However, Juventus did not disappoint their fans, winning the match 5-3 on penlaties.
