In their blue jersey, they did not look like Brazil and nor did they play like Brazil! However, it was in the six minutes of injury time that Brazil actually took the match beyond their rivals Costa Rica and a rather brilliant Keylor Navas. Costa Rica had frustrated Brazil and their star player Neymar to the extent that Neymar had come down to diving inside the box in the attempt to win a penalty for his team.Willian crossed into Firmino who headed down the ball into the path of oncoming Gabriel Jesus who could not quite control it and in came Coutinho from midfield to power his finish past Keylor Navas. Another one came deep into stoppage time when Douglas Costa crossed into Neymar who made a simple tap-in to score his first goal of the tournament. Like Ronaldo and Messi, even Neymar went into this World Cup carrying the hopes of the entire nation on his shoulders. If not anything else, this meant a lot for Neymar’s confidence which took a lot of beating from the tenacious Costa Ricans.
For now, Brazil seems to be safely heading to the round of last 16. If they can crank it up by a few notches, the world shall witness the old fire.
