Olympic and US open champion Andy Murray signed as the first client for a latest partnership between Indian doubles star Mahesh Bhupathi 's GloboSport and his management company on Thursday. This joint venture is targeted at supporting Murray who is ranked second in the world following his victory at the Miami Masters to develop his off-court interests in the Middle East and Asia.
Simon Fuller's XIX Entertainment was managing Murray's commercial activities since 2007. But recently it is expected that the 25-year-old Scot may collaborate with an opponent to assist him further in his business interests.
Murray believes that a combination of Simon Fuller's experience and Mahesh's understanding of the sport will create the ideal team for his off-court interests and will permit him to continue to devote himself and focus on his goals on the court.
Bhupathi inaugurated GloboSport--a media and entertainment company in 2002. In this week, it is revealed as the mastermind behind the plans for an International Tennis Premier League. Actually, this League is based on cricket's Indian Premier League and played during tennis' short off-season in November and December.
According to sources, the leading players have already been approached. Above all, Murray’s collaboration with Bhupathi could lead the champion to become a crucial figure if the league gets the approval.
Murray’s achievement is presently sky high after he defeated Novak Djokovic in New York last year September to become the first Briton player to win a Grand Slam singles title for 76 years. He has also clinched gold medal after defeating Roger Federer in the Olympic men's singles final earlier in 2012. He achieved this victory just weeks after losing to the Swiss great in the Wimbledon final.
