Indian tennis star Somdev Devvarman was defeated by world number one Novak Djokovic in the third round and ultimately quitted the Miami Masters in Florida on Sunday.
The topper Serb Novak Djokovic won in straight sets by 6-2, 6-4 to make his way to the fourth round where he will play with German Tommy Haas. Djokovic confessed after the match that it was very difficult to get into a rhythm because one couldn’t really serve at 100 percent. One had to go more for precision and put twice as much effort into the step adjustments due to the windy conditions. However, he felt just happy to get through the rough day. Djokovic previously won the tournament defeating Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray in the finals respectively in 2011 and 2012. Currently he is aiming for a hat-trick of titles at the event. We wish him all the best for his future matches!
India saw disappointment in the doubles event also as Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi collapsed out with their respective partners. Third seeds Indian Bhupathi and Canadian Daniel Nestor went down 3-6 3-6 against Nicholas Almagro and Oliver Marach. Leander Paes and his French partner Michael Llodra performed their best but lost by 6-7 (6) 6-7 (4) against Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria and Frederik Nielsen of Denmark. Indian tennis ace Bopanna is now the lone Indian survivor in the men's doubles along with Rajeev Ram. The unseeded Indo-American pair is up against second seed Spaniards Lopez Marc and Granollers Marcel. We are eager to know about their performance in the forthcoming match.
