Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece caused a major upset on Thursday, defeating Wimbeldon champion, Novak Djokovic, 6-3, 6-7 (5/7), 6-3. After beating Dominic Thiemin the previous round, the Greek ace followed it up with a win against the four-time champion, Djokovic, to book his place in the quarter finals of the Toronto Masters.
"This was the best match of my career. I knew I was playing pretty good today."
"Losing the second set, it was tough to deal with,” said the 19-year old. “I had myopportunities and didn't use them."
"But I remained calm, I tried few things that I didn't try before. (The early break in the third set) was everything. It gave me the win at the end.”
It’s needless to say that this is a huge achievement for the teenager, who’d look to build on his recently gained momentum.
