Pakistan defeated New Zealand by 6 wickets in the second match of the ODI series. However, the victory was marred by a grave injury to opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq who got hit on the grille of the helmet from a short-pitched delivery. He had to be rushed to the hospital, and thankfully the scans showed no signs of damage.
Earlier during the New Zealand innings, Shaheen Afridi wrecked the batting line up for the career-best figure of 38-4. New Zealand posted a meager total of 209-9 in their 50 overs quota. A valiant 86 from Ross Taylor did not help as other batsmen could not support him. With this win, Pakistan ended their losing streak and also leveled the series 1-1. And then, Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam contributed 88 and 46 runs respectively to help Pakistan’s cause in their victory over the Kiwis.
