Pakistani star all-rounder Shahid Afridi has termed South Africa, Australia and New Zealand as World Cup (WC) favorites, which is scheduled to start in February 2015.
Addressing a gathering in the city, the Pakistani cricketer said World Cup’s first match was always important.
“We will change the history in first match against India,” said Afridi. A match between India and Pakistan, he said, is always played in a pressure situation and absence of spin maestro Saeed Ajmal will be felt in the mega event
"In my view Australia will be a very strong side in their backyard while New Zealand will be a big threat as well because if they can beat Pakistan like they did in the UAE, then they can trouble anyone in home conditions. Apart from them, Pakistan and South Africa will also be favourites to win the World Cup,” Afridi added.
