Saina Nehwal had a disappointing start to the Hong Kong Open tournament as she lost to second seed Yamaguchi of Japan 10-21, 21-10, 21-19. As a result she is out of the event. On the other hand, PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth marched forward to the second round.
Sindhu defeated Thailand’s Jindapol 21-15, 13-21, 21-17, and now will face Ji Hyun of South Korea. Fourth seed Srikanth defeated Wong 21-11, 21-15. Sameer Verma also progressed to the second round after getting the better of Thailand’s Avihingsanon 21-17, 21-14. However, star shuttler Kashyap will be joining Saina as he lost his first round.
