Senior pro ace shuttler Parupalli Kashyap lost his last eight matches here at the Saarlorlux Open Badminton Championship on Friday. However, Subhankar Dey is quite on a roll now as he entered the semifinals with superb display of character.
Subhankar shocked everybody when he gained the upperhand against experienced Lin Dan and defeated him in the second round of the event. The world No. 64 defeated seventh seeded Englishman Toby Penty 21-16, 21-9 in a game that lasted only 32 minutes. Kashyap, on the contrary lost under 38 minutes in the quarter finals against France’s Toma Junior Popov 16-21 and 18-21.
In the women’s singles quarter final, Sayali Rane got ousted against Denmark’s Line Kjaersfeldt 14-21 and 9-21.
