Sindhu Ousted, Srikanth Progresses

Star shuttler and Olympic medalist PV Sindhu lost unexpectedly to Hyun Ji Sung of Korea 24-26, 20-22. Although, Sindhu bit the dust early in the Hong Kong Open World Tour Super 500, Srikanth and Sameer progressed to quarterfinals. With Sindhu’s ousting, India’s hopes for winning a single’s title in the women section ended. However, fourth seed Srikanth defeated Prannoy 18-21, 30-29, 21-18. Sameer Verma also advanced as he got to enjoy a walkover from his counterpart fifth seeded Chen Long from China.
