Indian shuttlers Kidambi Srikanth and PV Sindhu bowed out of China Open World Tour Super 1000 tournament. The fifth seed Chen Yufei of China caused major upset when she defeated third seed PV Sindhu 11-21, 21-11, 15-21. Sindhu got outplayed in the entire match, and even though she won the second round, she was unable to keep up with the pace of the Chinese shuttler.
In the men’s singles match, the seventh seed Kidambi lost to third seed Kento Momota of Japan in straight sets 21-9, 21-11. Srikanth was simply no match for the Japanese shuttler. Momota gained advantage from the first game itself.
