Proteas team squad is announced for 2014 world cup tournament in Bangladesh. Famous South African opening batsman Graeme Smith and all-rounder Jacques Kallis didn’t get place in 30 member team selection for the world cup event of fastest cricket format.
Kallis has recently got retirement from Test cricket and has wished to play 50 over world cup in 2015. He has got great record in IPL cricket and he was the team member of winning KKR team in 2012 season. Kallis hasn’t played T20 cricket for South-Africa since 2012 world cup.
Graeme Smith is also not playing Twenty20 international matches for South Africa since 2011, hence there is no debate on the non-selection of test captain. South Africa will face ICC t20 top ranking team Sri-Lanka in their group match. Proteas will play against New-Zealand, England and one qualified team from first round of the championship.
Faf Du Plessis will lead the South African team throughout the competition. AB De Villiers will be the key batsman in team and he will be the wicket-keeper as well. JP Duminy, Miller and De Kock will be the key players in competition for Proteas team to claim the title.
