T20WC 2014 might be shifted to India or Srilanka from Bangladesh

Few weeks are left in the starting of ICC T20 World Cup 2014 and still its hosting nation is not fixed. ICC declared Bangladesh as 2014 T20 World Cup hosting nation in year 2010. But now it’s been a terrible situation for Bangladesh to host this world cup event.

The main issue in Bangladesh is about security concerns of players. The political and election problems are rising in the nation. There was a bomb blast as well before few days ago near a hotel in Dhaka where West Indian under-19 would stay. This made west-indies board to withdraw from the series.

Pakistan board can also pull out from T20 World Cup if it holds in Bangladesh. PCB has taken advice from their government about sending team to Bangladesh for this t20 trophy and Asia cup. If Pakistan withdraws from the tournament, other nations might be interested to walk-out from the tournament.

Political violence in Bangladesh is rising day by day due to opposition parties. The three cities Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet are the hosting cities of this T20 World Cup and in recent time all these 3 cities have got bomb blasts news and many people lost their life as well. Situation is not pretty good in Bangladesh.

ICC committee will inspect the conditions in Bangladesh very closely and take the decision about shifting the world to other country or not. Though Bangladesh cricket board is confirmed that they can provide best security to the players during the competition. If Bangladesh fails to organize the tournament, world cup may be shifted to India or Sri-Lanka.

Will India host 2014 T20 World Cup ?

It is expected that if Bangladesh couldn’t host the fifth T20 World Cup, India can organize the tournament. Ranchi and Kolkata are the stand by cities if Indian cricket board is asked to host the cup. As per the news, final decision will be taken when Asian Cricket Council committee inspects the Bangladesh stadiums and security arrangements.

If India hosts the tournament, it will be great to see the match between two forever cricketing rival India and Pakistan which is scheduled for 21st March, 2014. India is schedule to host 2016 T20 World Cup as well.

Will ICC world T20 shift to Sri-Lanka?

Sri-Lankan Board is also ready to organize the twenty-20 world cup if tournament is taken out from Bangladesh. Nishantha Ranatunga (Cricket secretary, Sri-Lanka) says in Colombo, "We have the grounds and necessary infrastructure to host ICC T20 world cup if we are asked. We can also organize Asia cup if Asian cricket council asks us."

Last fastest cricket world cup also organized by Sri-Lanka in 2012. If this time they host once again the competition, it will second in a row for them to host the 20-20 world event.

Recently in the meeting of Asian Cricket Council, BCCI and SLS, it is decided that Asia cup will be held in Bangladesh as scheduled. So we can expect that world cup will also not be shifted from Bangladesh though ICC hasn’t comment on this. As ICC officials declare any news regarding this, we will let you know.
