It is rightly being called ‘fire against fire’ with some very promising and unpredictable matches. However, we can’t stop remembering some incredible goals seen in the group stage. Modric vs. Argentina
The chances for the South Americans became very slim following this incredibly dominating performance from Luka’s side, which beat them down with a mighty 3-0.
Kroos vs. Sweden
Perhaps this comes as one of the best goals of the tournament. This brought back Germany from the dead (though they couldn’t make it); along with the fact that Kroos’ execution of the goal was stunning.

In the simultaneous match on this day, Sweden had already killed Germany’s hopes of qualifying. Son’s open net goal emphasised the defeat, gave the South Koreans a historic victory over the defending champions as well as turned down the German’s confidence.
