It was a doomsday for Divij Sharan as his US Open journey came to an end after him and his Chinese Taipei partner Yen-Hsun Lu fought superbly with Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi and Jean-Julien Rojer in the men's doubles 3rd round in New York.
Precisely, Sharan and Lu lost by 6-7 (6) 6-3 3-6 to the fifth seeded Pakistani-Dutch combo. On the other side, Qureshi and Rojer's aggressive serve gave them the upperhand in the opening set as they sent down six aces against none by their opponents.
Although Sharan and Lu performed much better than Qureshi and Rojer in the unforced errors department, but eventually the fifth seeds clinched the title by not allowing it to slip despite their opponents' stiff resistance.
Sharan and Lu roared back in the second set with a dominating performance and a better first serve percentage during which they broke Qureshi and Rojer once. However, the Pakistani-Dutch combination was guilty of squandering away three break points during the second set.
However, they turned the tables in the deciding set by breaking Sharan and Lu once while not granting a single break point themselves to finish off the issue in their favor.
