Indian veteran tennis stars Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna along with their partners successfully reached the third round of 3rd Grand Slam Wimbledon’s men’s title this year.
Paes and his partner Radek Stepanek of Czech got the better of Jemmy Delgado of Britain and Matthew Ibdin of Australia by 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 in the straight sets in the 2nd round. Paes and Stepanek grabbed the fourth position. On the other side, Bhupathi and his partner Julian Knowles of Austria hammered Nicholas Monroe of America and Simon Stedler of Germany by 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-2. This match spanned 2 hours and 22 minutes. Bhupathi and Knowles captured the eighth position.
Bopanna and Edward Roger Vaslene of France fought a tough battle in the 2nd round. This duo played five sets and took more than three hours to obtain victory. Bopanna and Vaslene trounced Daniel Braids of Germany and Lucas Rosol of Czech by 6-3, 5-7, 7-6, 6-7, 6-4.
