The FIFA World Cup has recently concluded and we all know what that means. It’s time for the domestic season to kick-off and we can’t wait. The teams have signed some really interesting talents and we are waiting eagerly to watch them take the field. However, the season doesn’t start till August but the pre-season friendly tournament, the International Champions Cup, is here.
The tournament, like previous years, will be hosted by the United States of America from the 20th of July to the 11th of August. Even though this is a friendly competition, we have got the biggest of names from the footballing world taking part, giving us some mouth-watering clashes over the next 2-3 weeks. In the opener, Manchester City took on Borussia Dortmund. It’s needless to say that City walked into this match as the favourites to win but football, as we all know, is a funny game. Dortmund ran away with a 1-0 victory stunning the Citizens in the process and they did it with considerable ease as Mario Gotze scored the winner. The English club however, had fielded a relatively weaker and younger team.
Fans will probably get to see Ronaldo in action for the first time in a Juventus shirt. However, the highlight of the tournament has to be the match between the Turin based club and Real Madrid in which ‘Ronnie’ will take on his ex-teammates for the first time since his transfer this July.
